Taiwan,Taipei - One of the best place to go in Asia

Alright! finally managed to finish my taiwan blog . I HAD SO MUCH FUN in Taipei on september 2011 ! and thanks to my bf for the amazing trip . Overall , this trip was fun , exciting and memorable . I like Taiwan a lot, the locals were friendly, the food was great, the public transport system was top notch & Taiwan is generally a pretty low-cost place for shopping. I would definitely love to visit Taiwan again.

Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe - Taipei is located across the road from 45 Zhongxiao East Road (Section 4) Sogo department store.

minimum consumption of NT$300 per head and advance booking is recommended to avoid waiting as this cafe is popular with tourists.

The Shilin Night Market is a night market in the Shilin District of Taipei, Taiwan, and is often considered to be the largest and most famous night market in the city.
- The night market is located near the former location of a wharf on the Keelung River 基隆
- Take the Metro Taipei or MRT(捷運) to Jiantan station(劍潭站) which is on Danshui Line (淡水 the Red Line).

- The famous extra large chicken chop(豪大大雞排) one of the most popular street foods in Taiwan. Queue very long but waited only five mins. They were fast! Soft tender chicken with salty batter powdered with a fragrant spice mix. can be found here and you simply cannot miss it because of the long queue and it’s light blue signboard.

- Stalls selling fruit juice were everywhere. And one of the specialties is the honey bitter gourd juice, see the white color fruit?

- Oyster omelet (蚵仔煎) , Stinky tofu (臭豆腐)
Although it’s a popular food in Taiwan, Stinky Tofu (臭豆腐) is one thing I couldn’t stand. The taste, the smell, everything about it. I just couldn’t tolerate the stench it emits..

- Auntie Salty Chicken meat stall sat around the Shilin night market, featured its tasty chicken meat along with multi local food in one package lot, that cost you street price, surely satisfy your tongue while strolling, always crowded。 Must try , Recommended

-The night market encompasses two distinct sections sharing a symbiotic relationship: a section formerly housed in the old Shilin Market building, containing mostly food vendors and small eateries; and the surrounding businesses and shops selling other nonfood items.

Day trip to Jiufen 九份

Jiufen old street is a popular tourist destination north of Taipei. The houses are build at the side of the hills and from the houses, you are able to see the Pacific Ocean coastline.

What can you do here? walk around the cool old street, relive scenes of the past Taipei and when you are feeling tired, find a tea house of a great seaview and have some tea to chill…and not to forget shopping. There are numerous things to eat in Jiufen. Fishball soup, yuyuan (taro balls), dumplings served hot or cold with sweet bean, and mochi are all widely available.

After reading alot of *thumbs up* review on the fishball in Jiufen, we decided to give it a try. We walk in to the 1st shop selling fish ball that we saw. 鱼丸伯伯

Taiwanese Sausage , Wild boar meat.

The famous Mochi

Red dates minced meat dumplings.九份金枝紅糟肉圓
-The red color comes from the lees left over from a Chinese rice wine making process. Don't worry, there is no alchohol in it.

九份 賴阿婆芋圓北縣九份基山街143 號
Jiufen is most notable for their taro ball soup called yuyuan. Grandma Lai's Yuyuan and Ah Gan Yee Yuyuan are most famous for their taro balls.
-Yuyuan is a scoop of colorful taro balls in a sweet bean soup. The restaurant offers hot and cold yuyuan with a choice of sweetened red azuki beans, green mung beans, and/or soft peanuts. We opted for a combination of all three. The chewy taro balls (and yam balls, etc.) are naturally flavored and pair well with the sweet bean soup. This was quite a treat!

酸梅汤 , sour plum soup .

Lovely tea houses galore! 戏梦人生茶饭馆

Wufenpu(五分埔), one of the largest clothing markets in Taipei. Oh my, I’m so excited!! Finally, shopping time!! hahahahahha…
- You can get to Wufenpu by MRT, Houshanpi station (台北捷運藍線後山埤站) or by Train, Songshan station (松山車站). If you take the MRT, you will need to walk about 5 minutes to get to Wufenpu. As for train, Wufenpu is just opposite the Songshan station.
- Here's a premium shopping trip for you: know that in Taipei "value for money" in clothing and accessories means the Wufenpu Garment Wholesale Area . Located in the eastern part of Taipei City.

After Wufenpu, we proceed to our next destination, which is the Raohe Street Night Market(饒河街觀光夜市). It was about 15 minutes walk from Wufenpu to Raohe night market.

- The Raohe Street Night Market (饒河街觀光夜市) is one of the oldest night markets in Songshan District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is located on Raohe Street, near Songshan Station, and is about 600 meters long. The Ciyou Temple is just past the east end of the market

- one of the most popular things at Raohe is herbal stew pork ribs 药炖排骨 , i love it , taste yummylicious. 饒河街160号前

- Ru Rou Fan (卤肉饭

- another weird food in taiwan duck blood tofu (鸭血豆腐),bad smell ....

- Scallion pancakes 油葱饼

- Queue up for wild boar meat sausage 黑猪肉香肠

Liang Pin beef noodles - 良品牛肉面
Something memorable. Something effin’ good to eat. Not too much to ask for, right? I definitely thought we were in safe hands when we strolled into Liang Pin Beef Noodles / 良品牛肉麵. After all, their noodles are apparently of the award-winning variety. I did like the wide noodle (something different) and the texture of the noodle which was nice to chew on.

Taiwan Bubble Tea – Xie Jiao Ting (歇脚亭)
-This is one of the famous Taiwanese Bubble Tea (珍珠奶茶) francise chain which you can find around the corners of the busy Taipei streets.

Pork Pepper Buns 福州世祖胡椒饼 – So Meaty and So Good

SOGO is the first Japanese-Taiwanese joint-venture combination shopping center in Taipei, including the Zhongxiao main building and Dunhua new building

Ximending 西門町
- Ah Zong Mee Suah (阿宗面线) , This is one of Taipei's famous street food, Thick braised soup with bonito flakes with short vermicelli and generous oysters and pig intestines, this bowl is full of goodness! (If you're not comfortable with the intestines, just leave them out.)

- There're no tables, just stools scattered around. Yes, there are no tables and people just sit on stools available, and gulp the bowl of vermicelli down, despite it brimming the small green bowls. Some even stood while eating them because the stools were all used up.

- Don't expect glorious service from Ah Zhong however! Just your bowl of piping hot vermicelli away and enjoy! :)

-after ximending we went for lunch , forgot the restaurant name already , the food is nice & service is thumbs up :D

Taipei 101
- one of the most famous landmarks in Taiwan is Taipei 101
